PROFESSIONAL FEDERAL CREDIT UNION*S PRIVACY POLICY Professional Federal Credit Union (*PFCU*) understands the importance of privacy when you visit our Web site or use Internet Banking. For this reason, we have developed the following privacy statement explaining our policy on the collection and use of confidential information. |
|
OUR COLLECTION OF INFORMATION We collect information from you only where we feel it will
assist us in providing you with superior service and quality products. When you visit our Web site, all
information gathered is on an aggregate basis rather than individually. We may compile statistics regarding
geographical data, what pages are visited, time spent on the site, browser and Internet Service Provider types,
and other information that we may use to improve our Web site. | |
USE OF INFORMATION PFCU will not provide nor sell your personal information
to any private party for independent use. We will only share personal information with non-affiliated companies
under one of the following circumstances: you have authorized it; you have requested a transaction requiring it;
we are reporting your information to a credit reporting agency; or we are required or permitted by law to disclose
the information. |
|
SECURITY SECURITY MEASURES FOR TRANSMISSION OF INFORMATION Our Internet Banking service, Pro Fed OnLine, uses a
three-tiered security system that governs all parts of our Internet services. Each security level governs a
unique aspect of the member's session and transactions with the credit union by implementing both software and
hardware solutions. When combined, this security forms a rigid system that enables customers to conduct
business with the credit union via the Internet with an extremely high degree of security. |
|
Data Source Security Professional Federal Credit Union's database cannot be directly accessed via the Internet. All requests for data must pass through two distinct validation and control centers, the Application Firewall and the WWW Home Banking Server. Each request and answer is logged at each stop through the firewall. Any suspicious activity is logged and causes an alarm. |
|
Data Transmission Protection All transmissions via the Internet between the user and the credit union are protected by Secure Socket Layering (SSL). SSL utilizes authentication and encryption technology developed by RSA Data Security Inc. This method of cryptography (also known as Public Key Encryption) provides for:• Server Authentication (stopping impostors) • Privacy using Encryption* (stopping eavesdroppers) • Data Integrity (stopping vandals) *Encryption is the process of taking valid data and scrambling it into a meaningless combination of numbers and letters. The scrambled or "encrypted" data is then transmitted across the Internet to our secure site where the data is unscrambled or "decrypted"! Specifically, we are using public key encryption. This encryption technique creates a pair of asymmetric keys for encryption and decryption. One is called the public key, and one is called the private key. When data is encrypted using the public key, it can only be decrypted using the private key. Conversely, when data is encrypted using the private key, it can only be decrypted using the public key. |
|
Account Protection Security The final layer of security we have put in place for your protection is the use of a PIN (personal identification number) for accessing your personal account. This PIN is a private ID chosen by a random generator and may be changed by you alone. Your PIN, used in conjunction with your account number, is the only way your account can be accessed. The credit union will automatically block your account from electronic banking, including Pro Fed OnLine and Touch-Tone Teller, if you have six or more unsuccessful login attempts.PFCU may use *cookies* as part of the security measures when logging into Internet Banking. A cookie is a small piece of information that we request to assign at each session and use to retrieve and verify information during that session. Pro Fed OnLine assigns a session ID number ("cookie") each time you log in. This number is verified each time you send or receive information from the Pro Fed OnLine host processor during that session. The session ID number provides security for your private information by responding only to requests that contain the number. The cookie is not stored on your computer, and it is discarded when you exit your browser, exit Pro Fed OnLine, or are logged out due to inactivity. Without accepting this ID number, you cannot log on to Pro Fed OnLine. |
|
SECURITY MEASURES AFTER RECEPTION OF INFORMATION Any data or statistics that
PFCU gathers from its Web site or Internet Banking site is kept in strict
confidentiality. Only certain employees have access to this information,
and employees may only view the data for legitimate business purposes.
The same restrictions apply to all of PFCU's affiliated companies. In addition, all passwords
assigned for Internet Banking accounts are created by a random generation
and no employee has access to these passwords. |
