NOTICE:  The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is warning consumers of fraudulent e-mail messages claiming to be security or account update notices, sent with one of several @fdic.gov addresses. The e-mails may contain links requesting consumers to click and update their information.

NOTICE:  The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) is warning all members of credit unions and bank account holders to be aware of a new phishing e-mail scam. Below is a sample of a phishing e-mail message:

Subject: ACH Transaction Rejected

The ACH transaction, recently sent from your checking account (by you or any other person), was cancelled by the Electronic Payments Association.

New E-mail Scam

NOTICE:  A fraudulent e-mail message has been circulating claiming to be from the address service@profedcu.org. This message asks you to download an attachment and to log into your account.

Please do not respond to this message or download any of its attachments. This message was not sent by ProFed Credit Union and should not be trusted.

Any e-mail that claims your account is blocked or suspended should be considered spam. You should not respond, click on any links, or download any attachments. Any messages of this type should be reported to the credit union as soon as you receive them.

If you have already downloaded this message attachment, please run a scan on your computer for viruses and malicious software. Additionally, you should not log into any secure web sites until you are certain you have removed any viruses or malicious software from your computer.

If you have already accessed your ProFed Online Banking account after downloading the attachment, please contact the credit union and request a new Online Banking password. Please do not login from your computer until you are certain any viruses or malicious software have been removed.

For questions concerning virus and malicious software removal, please contact your antivirus software provider.

NOTICE:  Members of area credit unions have been targeted by scammers using telephone calls informing the member that their credit card has been deactivated. The calls display a four-digit number and then ask the members to call a number to reactivate their credit card. This is a scam. Please do not call the telephone number from the caller.

NOTICE:  Users of mobile devices with Android software may have noticed several applications available for download in the Android Marketplace. If you see any applications provided by the user Droid09, please do not download these applications.

Android applications provided by Droid09 are fraudulent.

Please remove any applications by Droid09 from your mobile device and contact your mobile provider to evaluate whether any other applications or information stored on your mobile device have been compromised.

Additionally, you should initiate any secure sessions through your mobile web browser instead of through any applications you may have downloaded.
