Watch for E-mail Scams
Notice: Recently, some individuals have received an e-mail that looks as though it is from ProFed or the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). The e-mail asks members to click on a link to a fraudulent site and update their account information.
If you received a message similar to this, please report it to the credit union. For more information, visit the US Department of Justice's web site at www.cybercrime.gov.
Remember, ProFed and its affiliates will never ask for confidential information through e-mail. You can take steps to protect yourself from phishing scams:
- Do not click on links in e-mails, type the address into your browser.
- NEVER enter account numbers, passwords, or other confidential information in response to unsolicited e-mail or at unknown web sites.
- Reputable businesses will NEVER threaten to close your account or cancel access by demanding information through e-mail.
- Reputable businesses will NEVER call or e-mail you requesting confidential information.
