What are my Overdraft Options?

Pro Fed helps cover overdrafts in two ways.

The first option is Overdraft Privilege(sm). When your checking account has non-sufficient funds (NSF), items that attempt to clear may be paid at the credit union's discretion, up to a certain limit*. This saves you the hassle of returned checks from many merchants. There is a fee for Overdraft Privilege(sm). Please see our Fee Schedule for details.

The other option is automatic overdraft transfer from your savings account. With this option, items that may clear when your checking account has non-sufficient funds (NSF) will transfer over from your savings. There is no charge for this service, however, if your checking account is negative balance after the item clears, you will be assessed a NSF fee.

Automatic transfers are limited by federal Regulation D.

Please see our Transfer Limits Disclosure for more information.

*The Overdraft Privilege(sm) courtesy limit varies per member. Some NSF items may not be paid. Failure to bring an account positive may result in termination of the service. Please refer to the Overdraft Privilege(sm) disclosure for details.

Loan Due-Date Changes - FAQ

Why is this happening?

The United States Congress passed and the President signed a bill titled the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure (Credit CARD) Act of 2009. While the bill was originally targeted to make sweeping changes to how credit card issuers operate, the bill also included language that affects ALL open-ended loans. Open-ended loans include our Prime Line, Quick Cash and Home Equity Lines. Thus, Pro Fed is required to make these changes to comply with the new regulations

Why is my loan due date being changed?
One of the provisions of the law requires that the financial institution notify the borrower at least 21 days in advance of the actual payment date. To meet this requirement, Pro Fed Credit Union elected to change due dates on open-ended loans to be compliant and cost effective. Moving the due date allows time for the proper notification to be sent to you about your next loan payment.

I want to keep paying my loan on the date I already have. That fits into my budget. Do I have to change?
No. You may continue to pay your loan on the same day as before, as long as you make your monthly payment by the due date.

Do I have to sign new loan papers to make this change take effect?
No. The loan disclosure that you signed when you originally took out your loan allows Pro Fed to make changes to your loan, with proper notice. You received a notification in the mail and on your monthly statement.

Will this affect my credit report or rating?
As long as you continue to make your regularly scheduled payments by the due date, there will be no negative effect on your credit report or rating.

If you have any other questions or wish to discuss this further, please contact the credit union:

1-800-752-4613 ext. 13,
or contactus@profedcu.org
