| History
of Pro Fed
Pro Fed was chartered in 1933 and originally known
as Fort Wayne Teachers Credit Union. Later in 1965 when the credit
union was granted a federal charter as Fort Wayne Community Schools
Federal Credit Union, it was renamed Fort Wayne Community Schools
Federal Credit Union. Then in 1986, the credit union expanded
its membership eligibility to include people other than school
employees and became Professional Federal Credit Union. Along
with employees of sponsor groups, membership eligibility extends
to a member's relatives (immediate family). Also, membership is
available to anyone 50 years of age or older through the Pro
Fed Eagles Association.
Once you become a member of Pro Fed, you will always
be a member, even if employment with a sponsor is ended. Pro Fed
is member-owned and has over 45,000 members with five branches
in Fort Wayne and one each in Angola, Auburn, Bluffton, Columbia
City, Decatur, and Kendallville. |
